प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में बुधवार को हुई कैबिनेट की बैठक में भारतीय वायुसेना के लिए 73 हल्के लड़ाकू विमान तेजस Mk-1A तथा 10 तेजस Mk-1 ट्रेनर विमानों की खरीद को मंजूरी दे दी गई। इसमें 45696 करोड़ रुपये का खर्च आएगा जिसमें इसके लिए इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के डिजाइन और विकास में होने वाला 1202 करोड़ रुपये का खर्च भी शामिल है।

गौरतलब है कि लाइट कॉम्बेट Mk-1A वेरिएंट स्वदेश में डिजाइन, विकसित और निर्मित किया गया आधुनिक पीढ़ी का फाइटर प्लेन है। इसे बेंगलुरु के हिंदुस्तान एरोनॉटिक्स लिमिटेड ने बनाया है। रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने ट्वीट करके तेजस की खरीद से जुड़ी जानकारी दी।
The LCA-Tejas is going to be the backbone of the IAF fighter fleet in years to come. LCA-Tejas incorporates a large number of new technologies many of which were never attempted in India. The indigenous content of LCA-Tejas is 50% in Mk1A variant which will be enhanced to 60%.

हल्का लड़ाकू विमान तेजस, क्रिटिकल ऑपरेशन क्षमता के लिए इलेक्ट्रानिक रूप से स्कैन रडार, बियांड विजुल रेंज (BVR) मिसाइल, इलेक्ट्रानिक वारफेयर सुइट और एयर टू एयर रिफ्यूलिंग जैसी सुविधाओं से सज्जित किया गया है। फिलहाल यह 50 फीसदी देशी है जो बाद में बढ़कर 60 फीसदी हो जाएगा। इस आर्डर से आत्मनिर्भर अभियान को गति मिलेगी।
The HAL has already set-up second line manufacturing facilities at its Nasik and Bengaluru Divisions. Equipped with the augmented infrastructure the HAL will steer LCA-Mk1A production for timely deliveries to the IAF.
